Jannik Sinner’s Dominant Year and Unexpected Setback

The past twelve months have been nothing short of spectacular for Jannik Sinner, who has firmly established himself as the dominant force in men’s tennis. The world No. 1 has lifted nine titles, suffering only six defeats from January 2024 to date. However, his remarkable run was overshadowed by a doping case that ended last month following an agreement with WADA.

Sinner’s Suspension and Return to Action

The 23-year-old Italian was handed a three-month suspension from the professional circuit, running from February 9 to May 4. This penalty allowed him to avoid a trial before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, which could have resulted in either an acquittal or a ban ranging from one to two years.

Although an independent court initially cleared him of any wrongdoing, the three-time Grand Slam champion opted for a compromise solution upon the advice of his legal team.

Sinner is now set to make his return at the Rome Masters 1000 in May, and it was confirmed yesterday that he will also compete at the Hamburg ATP 500 before heading to Roland Garros. Given that he has not played since defending his Australian Open title, this decision comes as no surprise.

With his incredible form, many fans and analysts believe that Sinner has a genuine chance of achieving the Calendar Grand Slam—provided he remains injury-free.

Darren Cahill’s Possible Early Exit from Team Sinner

As Sinner continues his rise, a significant change in his coaching team is on the horizon. It was already revealed during the Australian Open that Darren Cahill—a key figure in Sinner’s success alongside Simone Vagnozzi—plans to step away at the end of the 2025 season to focus on his family.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cahill might leave sooner than expected, potentially before the year’s end.

While Vagnozzi is set to remain part of Sinner’s coaching team, he won’t be alone. Italian tennis legend Paolo Bertolucci recently confided to Adriano Panatta that Sinner has already chosen Cahill’s replacement for 2026, though the identity of the new coach remains undisclosed.
