The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), co-founded by Novak Djokovic and Vasek Pospisil six years ago, recently made headlines by launching legal action against the ATP—an announcement made during the Miami Open. The move caught many in the tennis world off guard, sparking widespread speculation about its potential impact.

But even more surprising was the absence of Djokovic’s name among the list of players officially backing the legal complaint. When asked about it during the Miami event, the 24-time Grand Slam champion explained that while he supported some aspects of the legal move, he disagreed with others—prompting confusion from many, including Pospisil himself.

In an interview with Front Office Sports, the Canadian expressed his disappointment.

“I was honestly speechless when I heard what Novak said,” Pospisil revealed. “It didn’t align with the conversations we’d had. I’m not sure why he took that stance publicly—it was unexpected.”

Djokovic’s Mixed Form & Focus on Madrid

Despite the off-court controversy, Djokovic remains laser-focused on adding to his legacy. Now 37, the Serbian star is still chasing more Grand Slam glory and recently came close to capturing his 100th career title in Miami—falling just short in the final against rising Czech talent Jakub Mensik.

However, his clay-court season didn’t start as smoothly. Djokovic suffered a surprise defeat to Alejandro Tabilo in Monte Carlo, raising questions about his motivation and form. It was a repeat of their clash in Rome last year, where the Chilean also got the better of him.

Addressing the loss, Djokovic apologized to fans and assured that he’s determined to bounce back—starting with the upcoming Madrid Open, where he’ll aim to regain momentum on the road to Roland Garros.
