WATCH: Luke Littler’s gran, 81, gets emotional on TV as she watches darts sensation, 18, live for first time ever
It was a night to remember for darts sensation Luke Littler — not just because of his big win, but because his biggest fan was finally in the crowd.
The 18-year-old rising star played in front of his 81-year-old grandmother for the very first time during Thursday’s Premier League Darts event at the AO Arena in Manchester, close to his hometown of Warrington.
Despite his opponent Gerwyn Price landing a sensational nine-dart finish, Littler powered through with a 6-3 win, earning a spot in the night’s semi-finals — all under the proud gaze of his gran.
She was seen embracing him warmly as he walked toward the stage, marking an emotional family moment that was years in the making.
Later, Littler’s father, Anthony Buckley, captured the touching moment on social media, writing:
“Finally got me mum to the darts tonight at Manchester. 81 years young to watch her grandson, our Luke ‘The Nuke’ Littler, walk on as a world champion and get a win — meant the world to me.”
While Littler would go on to lose 6-4 to Luke Humphries in the semis, the night remained special for the Littler family.
Nathan Aspinall ultimately took home the win, defeating Humphries in the final to claim his first Premier League night victory of the season. Reflecting on his hard-fought triumph, Aspinall shared:
“I’ve got a few issues and sometimes it doesn’t look pretty on TV, but I found a way to cope with it. I’m winning, and I’m happy. These last three weeks, I’ve proven why I’m still one of the best players in the world.”
The night offered a blend of elite-level darts, personal perseverance, and heartfelt family moments — and for Luke Littler, a win in front of the one person who had never seen him shine in person before.
