Novak Djokovic has voiced his agreement with Nick Kyrgios regarding the issue of tennis revenue sharing, aligning himself with the Australian star’s stance on the need for more equitable distribution of income within the sport. Djokovic, a long-time advocate for players’ rights and fair compensation, echoed Kyrgios’ concerns about how the revenue generated by the sport is allocated, particularly highlighting the gap between the top players and those lower down the rankings.

In recent years, Kyrgios has been outspoken about the need for tennis to adopt a model similar to other professional sports, such as basketball or football, where revenue is shared more evenly across players, regardless of their ranking. Djokovic, who has previously led efforts through the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) to address similar concerns, expressed his support for Kyrgios’ perspective.

“I completely agree with Nick that there needs to be more discussion around how revenue is shared in tennis,” Djokovic said during a recent interview. “It’s important that the players who aren’t in the top rankings also have the opportunity to make a sustainable living. Tennis is a global sport that generates a lot of income, but it’s not always distributed in a way that supports everyone on the Tour.”

Djokovic emphasized that while the top players earn significant amounts in prize money and sponsorships, many lower-ranked players struggle to cover the expenses of travel, coaching, and other professional necessities. He believes that a more equitable revenue-sharing system could help grow the sport by supporting emerging talent and ensuring that players at all levels can sustain their careers.

“Nick has raised some important points about this issue,” Djokovic continued. “The sport can only grow if we make sure that every player, not just the top 100, can afford to play and develop their careers. I think it’s something the governing bodies need to address sooner rather than later.”

Both Djokovic and Kyrgios have called for greater transparency from tennis organizations like the ATP, WTA, and Grand Slam governing bodies in how revenue is generated and distributed, particularly given the sport’s global popularity and the massive income from broadcasting rights, sponsorships, and ticket sales.

With Djokovic’s support, the debate over revenue sharing in tennis could gain further traction, as more players may rally behind the cause to ensure a fairer distribution of the sport’s earnings.
