What Erling Haaland said to Gabriel Jesus during their argument at full-time after Man City 2-2 Arsenal
Erling Haaland and Gabriel Jesus were caught arguing after Manchester City and Arsenal shared the spoils in their pulsating 2-2 draw on Sunday.
Haaland was often at the front and centre of several of the arguments between both sets of players.
Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta’s sides were at each other’s necks in a contest that reached a level of intensity where it seemed like there were signs of bad blood between the two teams.
Much like when there was a heated rivalry between Arsenal and Manchester United when Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson respectively were in charge, the same seemed to have become the case after the latest clash at the Etihad Stadium.
After the game, both sets of players were seen quarrelling with each other.
Minutes before, John Stones had levelled the scoreline for Manchester City as the visitors looked visibly devastated not to have got the job done and left with a herculean victory to their names.
Haaland and Jesus exchange fiery war of words after Man City vs Arsenal
As a result, tensions understandably boiled over after the game; especially considering that during their previous meetings in recent years, the contests have never particularly been intense.
However, there seem to be certain games that kickstart a rivalry between two clubs.
For instance, in 2016, the famous ‘Battle of the Bridge’ occurred between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, which seems to have further accentuated the hostility between both London clubs.
Perhaps Sunday’s encounter did the same between City and Arsenal.
After the contest, Sky Sports shared a fiery interaction between Haaland and Jesus.
The Manchester City striker initially fired shots at Mikel Arteta, as he said: “Stay humble, eh? Stay humble.”
Jesus approached Haaland and said: “Come.”
The Norwegian replied: “What, what, what, what?”
Jesus said: “Come, why you saying, why you talking?”
Haaland replied: “Talking about what, I wasn’t talking you ——- clown!”
The 24-year-old pushed the Arsenal forward, who said: “Don’t touch me!”
Haaland said: “What are you talking about? Get the —- away from me you ——- clown!”
How Erling Haaland embraced the Arsenal rivalry should be celebrated
Throughout the game, the two-time Premier League winner seemed right up for the clash.
Haaland was throwing himself into challenges and willing to impose himself upon Arsenal’s defence.
The Leeds-born striker did not need any reminding of how important the game was.
Haaland delivered by getting on the scoresheet and also being a nuisance for Arsenal’s backline to tame.
After the high-octane affair as well, the star striker’s passion and intensity should be celebrated as it takes one back to an era where rivalries in the Premier League were typified by an incredible level of competitive spirit and animosity.
