Casper Ruud and Holger Rune were back on court in the latter’s home country of Denmark.
Despite the ATP and WTA‘s 2024 season coming to a close, some players are using their free time to contest exhibition matches.
Two of the ATP Tour’s youngest stars joined forces to entertain the crowd in the second of two exhibition matches in Scandinavia.
Casper Ruud claimed the first encounter in his home country of Norway, and now Holger Rune was looking to even the odds in his Danish fans.
Who won the exhibition match between Holger Rune and Casper Ruud?
On Sunday Ruud defeated Rune 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 to claim the first of their exhibition matches.
Rune was keen to turn the tables on his rival in their ‘Nordic Battle’, and he did just that as the 21-year-old secured a 6-4, 6-2 win.
The Dane needed just one break of serve in the first set to take the lead. Rune broke serve again in the third game of set two, and broke Ruud in the final game to claim victory.
Therefore, to the delight of the crowd in Copenhagen, Rune claimed the win after a solid performance to level his exhibition series with Ruud.
What is Casper Ruud and Holger Rune’s ATP head-to-head record?
Ruud and Rune have played against one another seven times on the ATP Tour.
It is a rivalry that is heavily in the three-time Grand Slam runner up’s favour, with Ruud winning six of their matches.
Ruud won their first four matches, before Rune claimed his only victory at the Rome Masters in 2023, winning 6-7(2) 6-4 6-2.
