Emma Raducanu’s Next Move After Miami Open Success

Emma Raducanu will take a brief break following her impressive run at the Miami Open, opting for a different approach to the clay court season. Instead of heading straight to high-profile events, she will ease into the surface by competing in a lower-tier tournament.

Billie Jean King Cup Return

Raducanu’s next official appearance will be at the Billie Jean King Cup from April 10-12, representing Great Britain alongside Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal, Harriet Dart, and Olivia Nicholls. The team will take on Netherlands and Germany in The Hague.

Skipping Stuttgart for Rouen

While many top players will compete at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Raducanu has opted instead to play at the Open de Rouen (WTA 250) from April 14-20. The tournament will feature Elina Svitolina as the top seed, with other contenders including Linda Noskova, Magda Linette, Sofia Kenin, and Maria Sakkari.

This decision marks a change in Raducanu’s usual schedule, as she traditionally plays Stuttgart during this period. Some speculate this shift could be linked to her departure from her role as a Porsche Brand Ambassador, though both parties have denied any connection.

Building Momentum on Clay

Last year, Raducanu cut her clay court season short before Roland Garros, prioritizing the grass season instead. However, with Queen’s Club now added to the calendar, she won’t need to sacrifice clay court events to prepare for the grass swing.

With a solid Miami Open performance behind her, Rouen could serve as the perfect stepping stone for Raducanu to build confidence ahead of the bigger clay court tournaments.
