Luke Humphries Hits Back at Fan’s Claim After Defeat to Luke Littler

World No.1 Luke Humphries fired back at a fan who suggested his prime was over following his loss to Luke Littler in the Premier League Darts Night 8 final.

Humphries Responds to Criticism

After suffering a 6-1 defeat to Littler, a fan in the All Things Darts Facebook group claimed that Humphries would soon drop in the rankings.

“Humphries’ prime has truly been and gone. When he loses the World No.1 spot, I reckon we’re gonna see him slowly but gradually fall down the rankings.”

Humphries didn’t hold back in his response:

“I’ve literally won two of the last four majors, you wally! A couple of bad weeks don’t define you. This happened at the start of last year… and look how it ended.”

Recent Success and Rankings Battle

Humphries has enjoyed a strong season despite his recent struggles. He won the World Masters in February, defeating Jonny Clayton 6-5 in the final, and also claimed back-to-back Players Championship Finals titles.

His Premier League campaign started well, with victories on Nights 1 and 4 and a runner-up finish on Night 2. However, Littler has dominated recently, winning three of the last four nights and leading the standings with 26 points, while Humphries sits second.

Looking Ahead

Despite the setback, Humphries remains in contention for the Premier League Darts Play-offs and is determined to hold onto his World No.1 ranking. He could face Littler again in Berlin on April 3—possibly in another final showdown.

With plenty of darts left to play, Humphries isn’t ready to give up his spot at the top just yet.
