Alexander Zverev expressed his disappointment in the press conference after being knocked out in the semifinals of the 2024 ATP Finals. “I struggled to get into the match, but I improved as it went on. Honestly, I think I was better in the second and third sets, but I couldn’t capitalize on my opportunities and performed below what was expected in the tiebreak,” said the German, who praised Taylor Fritz. “It’s uncomfortable for me to play against him, he has significantly improved his forehand, and his style of play doesn’t align well with mine. This defeat really hurts, to be honest, but it’s been a great season,” he said before admitting that he won’t forget two lost matches in 2024: against Medvedev in Australia and the Roland Garros final against Alcaraz.
