It’s safe to say that Jack Grealish’s career at Manchester City looks like it is in an uncertain place.

Considering how important Grealish can to be how City play, one would assume that sooner rather than later, he will be handed regular starting opportunities.

But injuries have played a primary role in the Manchester City winger having a forgettable season so far where he has made a mere four Premier League starts.

Last month, Grealish’s rumoured transfer to Tottenham Hotspur as well as Aston Villa was ruled out amongst other such links and it was assured that he is valued at City.

But Grealish’s contract at Manchester City expires in 2026 and considering he turns 30 in September next year, valid questions would be asked about his future.

Interestingly, Pep Guardiola discussed Grealish in midfield as a tactical experiment that he could test out due to the “control” and “vision” he brings to the table in the final third.

Man City fans back Jack Grealish to shine in midfield

The £100 million man has been utilised centrally but never in the middle of the park since joining City.

Manchester City supporters online feel Grealish would be a man possessed if given a chance to play in midfield.

A City fan explained: “I think converting Jack [Grealish] as a midfielder, it is going to be the best option for us because Jack is very strong and good handling the ball. I noticed everything changed a little bit yesterday [against Liverpool] when he entered the pitch playing in the midfield role.”

Another Manchester City supporter wrote: “Please. Let us do it. That is his natural role and I believe he will excel. Eagerly waiting for the next game.”

A Sky Blues fan claimed: “Been wanting Jack Grealish in the middle for years now. The midfield needs legs. It needs control. It needs Grealish. Not a lot to take from this game today but when Grealish was running with the ball and [Jeremy] Doku was on the outside of him, I had tingles. I want it. I need it.”

Pep Guardiola once called Grealish “a typical number 10”

In 2023, Pep Guardiola claimed that in his view, Grealish is a classic number 10.

Guardiola said via Manchester City’s official website: “Jack [Grealish] can understand immediately. He can play in different positions, in the middle. He’s a typical number 10. At Villa he played as a winger, at the beginning when he arrived he played false nine.”

Grealish could well be handed the chance to play in the midfield trio against Nottingham Forest.

All eyes will be on the Englishman to rise to the occasion if he is trialled in a new position.

A positional shift could hand Grealish a new lease of life in a Manchester City shirt as well.
