The year 2024 might have only just finished for Emma Raducanu but she is now already focusing her attention on next year’s tournaments.
It’s been a strange 2024 for Raducanu who has been striving to reach her best form after missing most of 2023 following a number of surgeries.
Raducanu shocked the tennis world in 2021 by winning the US Open as a rank outsider but the following year saw her lose in all four of the majors before the third round.
A run to the fourth round of Wimbledon in July showed flashes of what Raducanu can do, with the Great Britain star beating ninth seed Maria Sakkari in round three.
Raducanu is quite pleased with her efforts in 2024 and now she will be hoping to enjoy another injury-free year when things get underway in January.
The youngster has been discussing 2025 and Raducanu does have some goals, with it pleasing from a fan point of view that the fire still burns inside of the Grand Slam winner.
Emma Raducanu confirms first 2025 tournament she will feature in
Raducanu’s first participation in 2025 will come in New Zealand at the ASB Classic.
The tournament which was won in 2024 by Coco Gauff who defeated Elina Svitolina in the final has been in existence since 1956.
A host of top names will take part in the event, with Raducanu hoping to get her 2025 off to a flyer when the competition gets underway.
Raducanu actually lost to finalist Svitolina at the last ASB Classic and she will be hoping for another strong run at next year’s event in January.
The 22-year-old will be hoping to get herself into fine fettle ahead of the Australian Open with the hard surfaces typically her best surface.
Raducanu delivers one-word reaction after ASB Classic field is announced
It will hurt Raducanu that she’s not managed to kick on since winning the US Open.
However, she isn’t keen to dwell on her misfortune since then and will hope that 2025 can once again be her year.
After being announced as part of the line-up for the ASB Classic, Raducanu took to X to deliver a one-word reaction.
She simply posted: “Focused.”
Raducanu is a likeable player on the WTA Tour and nobody will take any satisfaction from her ordeal since being crowned US Open champion.
The challenge now is to prove all of those cynics who doubted her wrong during 2025.
