Katie Boulter shares her love for boyfriend Alex de Minaur, credits him for making her a better player

Boulter has had an impressive season, adding two singles titles in San Diego and Nottingham to her tally of three. She also reached the final in Hong Kong and the semifinal at the Japan Open.

Boulter started dating De Minaur back in March 2020, and since then, he has been her biggest supporter. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the Brit shared her thoughts on her season and how they have helped each other, drawing on their experiences to improve together.

“Anyone who has watched our journey has seen us grow together on the court and off the court. For me, it’s such a lovely feeling to know that everything is going well on the court and yet we can still enjoy time away from the court together,” Katie Boulter said.

“I feel like we’ve really helped each other in so many different ways. Firstly he’s there for advice. He’s got some credence, so I have to take his advice on board and I don’t mind listening to him once in a while. I don’t know if he takes it well from me but he knows what he’s doing,” she added.

Boulter praised De Minaur’s clear understanding of his game and his focus on improving his rankings. She then credited him for boosting her confidence and encouraging her to push her limits.

She said:

“He’s already been on the journey that I’m on right now. I’ve probably been on it a bit longer so I have a slightly different perspective which I can help him with and he can help me with the ranking side of things.”

She added:

“It’s pushed my boundaries even more and given me belief that I can be where he’s at right now.”

In 2024, Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter achieved a rare feat—each winning a title in the same week, with the former triumphing at the Mexican Open and the latter in San Diego. Later, they repeated the magic on the same day, with De Minaur winning the Libema Open and Boulter clinching the Nottingham trophy.

Now, according to Boulter, they are gearing up to train together for the 2025 season.

“There are moments. There are a couple scheduled for pre-season, I believe. And maybe in Australia, we have the odd one or two as well but all I will say is that it’s very competitive,” the Brit told Sky Sports.

Boulter jokingly expressed that they’re incredibly competitive, whether it’s tennis, padel, or even something as simple as cards. She also proudly boasted how she always beats him at target games.

“I wouldn’t say we’re great at not being competitive, either of us, no matter what it’s at. Whether it’s tennis, padel, or something small like cards, it gets pretty rowdy. But one of my biggest go-to is target because I always beat him at it. He’s not good at those targets, so he’s got work to do,” the Brit said.
