Emma Raducanu overcame significant serving struggles to win her Melbourne opener at the 2025 Australian Open, defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova in a tense two-set match. Despite racking up 13 double faults, Raducanu’s resilience and aggressive play allowed her to secure a 7-6(4), 7-6(2) victory, kicking off her Grand Slam campaign on a positive note.

Set 1:
Raducanu’s first set was marked by ups and downs. She faced early break points but managed to hold on, eventually breaking Alexandrova twice for a 4-2 lead. However, the British star struggled to maintain consistency, and her serve faltered, allowing Alexandrova to break back twice and level the set. Both players exchanged multiple breaks, and Raducanu’s nine double faults in the first set almost cost her. But in the crucial moments of the tiebreak, Raducanu found her rhythm and closed it out 7-6(4).
