Pep Guardiola, the 53-year-old Manchester City manager, has reportedly separated from his wife, Cristina Serra, after 30 years together. Their marriage, which began in a private ceremony near Barcelona in 2014, has now come to an end, as reported by Spanish outlet Sport.
According to the report, Guardiola and Serra had been living separately for more than five years, with Serra moving back to Barcelona with their youngest daughter, Valentina, now 17, while Guardiola continued his managerial duties in Manchester. The couple, who met in 1994, also share two other children: Maria, 24, and Marius, 22. Despite the physical distance, they maintained a close relationship, appearing together at public events over the years.
The decision to officially separate was reportedly made in December, though it was initially kept within their inner circle. Close friends and family were asked to respect their privacy, refraining from sharing further details.
In June 2023, Serra was by Guardiola’s side at the Champions League final in Istanbul, where Manchester City triumphed over Inter Milan to secure a historic Treble. The couple were also photographed together at Wimbledon in July, demonstrating their bond despite living apart.
Guardiola has often spoken highly of Serra’s influence in his life, particularly in the realm of fashion, with him praising her as “the best in the world at many things, especially fashion” in a January 2024 interview.
Serra’s move to Barcelona in 2019 was motivated by her focus on the family’s fashion business, Serra Claret, a brand that Guardiola is often seen wearing. Despite their separation, Guardiola frequently travels to Spain to visit Serra and their children, reflecting his continued commitment to family.
The separation has been described as amicable, with sources in Spain noting that their relationship remains “cordial, stable, and friendly.”
