Novak Djokovic’s Injury Concerns Deepen After Limping Exit from Qatar
Novak Djokovic’s fitness struggles continue to raise concerns after he was spotted limping into Doha Airport following his early exit from the Qatar Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has battled injuries over the past year and now faces uncertainty over his participation in upcoming tournaments.
Early Exit in Qatar
Djokovic, who previously assured fans that he had recovered from a hamstring tear suffered during his Australian Open semifinal against Alexander Zverev, was eliminated in the first round of the Qatar Open by Matteo Berrettini (7-6, 6-2). His doubles run alongside Fernando Verdasco also ended in the second round, further dampening his campaign.
A video shared by AS on social media showed Djokovic limping through Doha Airport, sparking speculation that his injury troubles may not be behind him.
Uncertain Future for Indian Wells and Miami
The 37-year-old is scheduled to compete in the upcoming Indian Wells and Miami Open, but his latest setback raises doubts about his readiness.
Speaking ahead of the Qatar Open, Djokovic admitted that maintaining peak physical condition is becoming increasingly challenging:
“There are more injuries. Things are not the same as 10 or 15 years ago. I still try to take care of my body on a daily basis, but it’s more challenging now, no doubt. I still try to do my very best, given the circumstances.”
The Last Icon Standing
Djokovic remains the only active member of the Big Four still competing full-time on the ATP Tour. Rafael Nadal retired last year, Roger Federer stepped away in 2022, and Andy Murray has since transitioned into coaching, notably assisting Djokovic during his Australian Open semifinal run.
With his physical struggles mounting, all eyes will be on Djokovic’s next steps as he navigates what could be one of the toughest seasons of his career.
