Major change to World Darts Championship ticket system as record number of seats set to go on sale

The World Darts Championship is introducing a brand-new ticketing system for this year’s event, with a record-breaking 180,000 fans set to attend as demand for seats reaches unprecedented levels.

Reigning champion Luke Littler will be aiming to complete a remarkable hat-trick of world titles when the sport’s biggest stars return to Alexandra Palace between December 11 and January 3.

For the first time in the tournament’s history, matches will be staged in the venue’s Great Hall, allowing organisers to welcome more supporters than ever before.

With darts enjoying a huge surge in popularity, the PDC has also overhauled its ticketing process after previous sales were overwhelmed by demand and saw its website struggle to cope with the volume of fans attempting to buy seats.

Instead of the traditional first-come, first-served sale, tickets will now be distributed through a ballot system.

Fans hoping to improve their chances of securing tickets can enter the exclusive PDCTV Annual Members Ballot, but only if they hold an active annual subscription before the eligibility deadline.

The PDC confirmed that the PDCTV Annual Members Ballot will open at 12pm BST on September 1 and close at 11:59pm BST on September 7.

To qualify, supporters must purchase an annual PDCTV subscription before 11:59pm BST on August 30. Anyone subscribing after that date will only be eligible to enter the General Ballot.

As well as priority access to the members’ ballot, an annual PDCTV subscription—priced at £59.99—includes live and on-demand coverage of major PDC tournaments, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes content throughout the year.

Only one ballot application will be permitted per member.

Once the members’ ballot has closed, the General Ballot will run from 12pm BST on September 8 until 11:59pm BST on September 14, giving all fans another opportunity to secure seats.

However, the PDC has warned that entry into either ballot does not guarantee tickets, with demand expected to far exceed the available allocation despite the expanded capacity.
