Jannik Sinner will need to carefully navigate the next three months, during which he will be unable to compete on the professional tour. Under the terms of his agreement with WADA—made official last Saturday—the world No. 1 must remain sidelined until May 4, when he is set to return at the Rome Masters 1000.

Until April 13, Sinner is also barred from training at any official facility, both in Italy and abroad. However, given his status, finding private venues to maintain his fitness should not be a challenge.

The 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria, who began 2025 by securing his second consecutive Australian Open title, took a short break to process the news of his WADA agreement—a decision that has sparked widespread discussion over the past week.

A three-time Grand Slam champion, Sinner has consistently maintained his innocence. Initially cleared of all charges by the ITIA, he was ultimately advised by his legal team that pursuing the case further before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne would not be in his best interest.

His suspension stems from an error made by two former team members, Giacomo Naldi and Umberto Ferrara, both of whom were dismissed late last year. Ferrara has since returned to the tennis world, now working alongside 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini.

Sinner Will Have His Team’s Support

Beyond the ban on official training venues, Sinner is also prohibited from practicing with any active ATP or WTA player. This restriction extends to his girlfriend, Anna Kalinskaya.

Despite these limitations, he will still have his team by his side. His coaches, Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill, have played a crucial role in helping him stay composed amid the intense scrutiny of the doping case that has overshadowed him.
