Former Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno proved to be the hero, saving spot-kicks from Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee to send Fulham into the quarter-finals.

After reaching two FA Cup finals and lifting the trophy once under Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim’s side fell short in their pursuit of another Wembley triumph. Fulham, meanwhile, earned a home tie against Crystal Palace in the next round.

Calvin Bassey had given Fulham the lead with a header just before halftime, but United finally responded in the 71st minute when Bruno Fernandes fired home a brilliant first-time equalizer. With extra time failing to separate the sides, the game was decided from the spot, where Leno’s heroics sealed Fulham’s progression.

Luke Littler Inspired by United’s Exit to Clinch UK Open Crown

Manchester United fan and darts sensation Luke Littler stormed to an 11-6 victory over Jonny Clayton in the UK Open semi-finals before going on to dominate James Wade 11-2 in the final, securing his first-ever UK Open title.

Littler, speaking to ITV, revealed that news of United’s FA Cup exit during his match gave him extra motivation to get the job done.

“I’m happy to reach the final in only my second UK Open,” Littler said. “But during the second break, I heard Manchester United had lost, and that spurred me on—I won the next five legs!

“I only needed one more after that, and I got the job done. I know my doubles need improving, but my scoring is strong enough to let me miss 20 darts at double!

“I’ve said plenty of times I want to win every major, and this is another step closer.”

Littler’s dominant victory softened the blow of United’s disappointing cup exit, ensuring he ended the weekend with silverware.

Littler’s Old Trafford Moment

Back in January, Littler had the honor of parading his PDC World Championship trophy at Old Trafford during United’s Premier League clash with Brighton.

At just 17, the youngest world champion in darts history received a rapturous ovation from 74,000 fans at halftime, with the Old Trafford faithful serenading him with chants of “Walking in a Littler Wonderland.”
