Aryna Sabalenka indulges in ‘sweet treat’ despite Indian Wells heartbreak, embarks on private jet journey with boyfriend Georgios
Aryna Sabalenka gave fans a glimpse of how she unwound after her Indian Wells final defeat, sharing moments of indulging in a sweet treat and enjoying a private jet journey with her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis. Despite the disappointment, the Belarusian star is already shifting her focus to her next tournament.
Sabalenka had an impressive run at the BNP Paribas Open, overcoming top competitors such as Lucia Bronzetti, Sonay Kartal, and Madison Keys to reach the final. However, in the championship match, she fell to 17-year-old Russian sensation Mirra Andreeva, who delivered a stellar performance to claim victory with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 comeback win.
In the aftermath of her loss, Sabalenka took to social media to share how she was handling the defeat. Posting a series of photos on Instagram, she showcased herself enjoying a well-deserved sweet treat, holding two large cookies with a lighthearted caption that read:
“Win or lose, we still get a sweet treat. See you next time @bnpparibasopen đ«¶đŒ”
Alongside this, she posted snapshots of her time at the tournament and a few pictures of her private jet journey with Frangulis, highlighting moments of relaxation and reflection after the intense competition.
During her post-match press conference, Sabalenka expressed no regrets about the loss, stating that every match adds to her experience. She also reflected on Andreevaâs remarkable maturity, admitting that she wished she had been as disciplined at a young age.
“I don’t have any regrets because it’s my experience. Because of that experience, I’m much more mature right now and I know things, but of course, I wish I would have been a little bit smarter at that age or listened to my family a little more,” she said, as quoted by tennis.com.
Sabalenka Praises Mirra Andreeva and Her Team
Following the final, Sabalenka graciously congratulated Andreeva during the on-court interview, acknowledging the young starâs impressive form and the strong team supporting her. She even joked that if she had the same team at 17, she might have been an even better player.
“Congrats on having a great team. If I had the same team you have at your age, Iâd probably be a better player by now,” Sabalenka quipped. “Donât look at my team, though. I have the best team right nowâI mean before!”
Later, in her press conference, she continued to praise Andreeva, particularly highlighting the positivity surrounding her.
“It’s impressive to see what she’s doing at such a young age,” Sabalenka remarked. “She has surrounded herself with the right team, and it’s great to see such a good environment around her. Her success is well-earned.”
Sabalenka Sets Sights on Miami Open
Despite the setback, Sabalenka remains focused on the road ahead. She is set to compete at the Miami Open on March 21, 2025, as she looks to add another strong performance to her season.
The Belarusian kicked off her 2025 campaign with a title-winning run at the Brisbane International, where she defeated Polina Kudermetova to claim the trophy. With Miami up next, she will aim to bounce back quickly and continue her pursuit of more success on the WTA Tour.
