Jack Grealish told Thomas Tuchel snub should be a ‘wake-up call’ after Man City struggles as England legend urges winger to make huge decision on his future
Jack Grealish Urged to Make Career Decision After England Snub
Jack Grealish has been advised to reassess his future following a “wake-up call” after being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Tuchel, in his first England squad selection since replacing Gareth Southgate, has once again omitted the Manchester City winger. Grealish, who was also left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad—a decision he later admitted he “didn’t really agree with”—has continued to struggle with form and fitness. His performances this season have seemingly not been enough to convince Tuchel to bring him back into the national team setup.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 29-year-old is enduring a frustrating campaign at Manchester City, having made just six Premier League starts in the 2024-25 season without scoring a single goal. England legend Alan Shearer believes Tuchel’s decision should serve as a wake-up call for Grealish, urging him to seriously evaluate his situation at City.
WHAT SHEARER SAID
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer stated:
*”It’s really tricky. First and foremost, he’ll want to get back into the Man City side, and only he can determine that. I don’t know what’s happening in training, but you hear one or two things from Pep suggesting Grealish may not be entirely happy at City.
As a player, when things aren’t going well, you have to ask yourself: What’s best for me and the team? Do I put my head down and fight for my place, or is it time to move elsewhere? Only Grealish can answer that. He’s at a fantastic club and has enjoyed great success, but being left out of this England squad should be a wake-up call.”*
WHAT’S NEXT?
England will face Albania and Latvia in their World Cup qualifying matches during the international break. Meanwhile, Grealish and Manchester City will return to action on March 30, when they take on Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
