Luke Littler Takes a Well-Deserved Break After Cardiff Heroics

After securing his third Premier League victory in Cardiff, Luke Littler is enjoying a well-earned break at home in Bolton—without even touching a dart.

The reigning world champion delivered a stunning performance on Thursday night, defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4, a rematch of their World Championship final from January. Despite not practicing beforehand, Littler showcased his brilliance with 10 maximums and an incredible 112.50 average, capping it off with a spectacular nine-dart finish.

“Chill Week” Before Newcastle

Reflecting on his approach, Littler emphasized his decision to take things easy:
“I can’t see many players in the Premier League practicing at home. Everyone else is heading to the Euro Tour this weekend, but I’ve pulled out. It’s just another chilled week off before Newcastle.”

His remarkable feat earned him a custom-made set of 18-carat gold darts, valued at £30,000, marking the third nine-darter of the season—following Luke Humphries and Rob Cross, who claimed their golden darts in Brighton.

As the Premier League reaches its midpoint in Tyneside, Littler holds a commanding six-point lead over Humphries and looks set for a play-off spot in May. Despite Humphries’ recent struggles, Littler remains cautious:
“I wouldn’t say the tide has turned yet—there are still nine weeks left. Luke is still capable of winning nights, so I need to keep building on my lead.”

£1 Million Prize Incoming?

Humphries recently suggested that the 2026 World Champion could walk away with an unprecedented £1 million, double what Littler earned at Alexandra Palace just two months ago.

When asked about the potential prize boost, Littler responded:
“I’ve not been told anything, but it’s been talked about for years. It’s been £500,000 for a long time, so I think that’s the next big step for us players. Whoever wins it will go straight to number one, and I’m 99.9% sure it’ll happen—whether this year or next.”

With his dominant form and relaxed mindset, Littler remains the man to beat as the Premier League continues in Newcastle next week.
