Coco Gauff’s Viral Camera Message at the Miami Open Sparks Fun Exchange With Dominic Fike

Remember when Coco Gauff made a powerful statement after her French Open semifinal win three years ago? Writing “Peace – End Gun Violence” on the camera lens, she used her platform to advocate for change. Fast forward to the Miami Open 2025, and Gauff is back with another lens message—this time, it’s not a call for action but a lyrical tribute that perfectly captured her emotions after a big win.

What Did Coco Write This Time?

Following her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Maria Sakkari, securing her second consecutive win against the Greek star, Gauff left her signature touch on the camera. But instead of a political statement, she chose lyrics from Dominic Fike’s song “Sunburn”, writing:

“When I die, bury me in the sun – Fike.”

The moment quickly went viral, and Fike himself reacted with a simple but telling 😳 emoji on his Instagram story, clearly surprised by the unexpected shout-out!

Later, Gauff joined in on the fun, reposting the image and correcting her own lyrics with a playful,

all while the song played in the background.

Staying Loose, Staying Focused

Beyond her viral post-match moment, Gauff has been in dominant form at the Miami Open, breezing through the first three rounds without dropping a set. The 21-year-old American No. 1 made a statement in Round 64, dismantling Sofia Kenin with a staggering 6-0, 6-0 win before taking down Sakkari in R32.

Despite her success on the WTA tour, Gauff has yet to reach the quarterfinals in Miami in five previous attempts. This year, however, she looks determined to change that.

“I Would Like to Have Another” — Gauff Prioritizes Grand Slam Glory Over No. 1 Ranking

In a post-match interview, Gauff reflected on her goals moving forward. When asked if she would rather reach No. 1 or win another Grand Slam, she was clear:

“Another major. I’ve always said… I feel like people remember you more for majors than the world No. 1 ranking. Obviously, if you could have both, that’s great. But with only having one, I would like to have another. Now, if I had like four and hadn’t reached No. 1, then maybe that would be a different story. But only having one? I would like to have another just to cement myself even more.”

Gauff’s 2023 US Open title remains her career highlight, but she has yet to capitalize on her Roland Garros opportunities. After reaching the final in 2022, she fell short against Iga Świątek, and she’s hungry to take that next step.

What’s Next for Coco?

Gauff now turns her attention to her fourth-round clash against Magda Linette on Monday. While Linette has been in strong form, taking out Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Linda Fruhvirtova in straight sets, Gauff holds a 2-0 lead in their head-to-head matchups—including a dominant victory in Wuhan last year.

With home-court advantage and surging momentum, Gauff is the favorite heading into the match. Will she finally break her Miami Open QF curse?
