Emma Raducanu stormed into the quarter-finals of the Miami Open on Monday night, dispatching close friend Amanda Anisimova 6-1, 6-3 in commanding fashion.
The 22-year-old Brit was in full control from the outset, winning 15 consecutive points on serve and showing no signs of letting up. It marks her first four-match winning streak at a tournament since her stunning 2021 US Open title run.
Despite Anisimova requiring treatment for a wrist issue — following Raducanu’s previous opponent McCartney Kessler retiring mid-match with a back injury — the result was never in doubt. Raducanu’s level has surged in Miami, and she now rises to 48th in the live rankings, though her form suggests she’s playing like a top-30 player.
This impressive run comes just days after parting ways with trial coach Vlado Platenik. Ironically, a small technical adjustment he made — notably a higher ball toss — appears to have sparked major improvements in her serve.
Back in her box was former coach Mark Petchey, filling in between his broadcasting duties. But Raducanu seems to be thriving more on instinct than coaching at the moment.
She’ll face either No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula or Marta Kostyuk in the quarter-finals on Wednesday — a potential step closer to her first title since the US Open.
Raducanu’s form is peaking at just the right time. Don’t count her out.
