Novak Djokovic Confirms Madrid Open Comeback After Three-Year Absence
Novak Djokovic has officially signed up for the Madrid Open for the first time since 2022, marking a shift in his schedule as he aims to compete more frequently in 2025. The world No. 5 has played in the clay-court Masters event only once in the past five years but is now set to return.
Djokovic previously stated he wanted to participate in more tournaments this season, and his decision to join Madrid, along with recent appearances at the Qatar Open and Miami Open, reflects that commitment.
Tournament organizers confirmed his participation, noting this will be his 13th time competing in Madrid since his debut in 2006. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has won the event three times (2011, 2016, 2019) and holds a 30-9 record at the tournament.
At the beginning of the season, Djokovic expressed his goal of improving his ranking and maintaining strong performances for years to come. He is currently in action at the Miami Open, where he has reached the round of 16.
His expanded schedule and extended coaching partnership with Andy Murray indicate a renewed focus on tournament play ahead of the clay season.
