Rob Cross Frustrated Despite £30K Golden Darts Prize as Luke Littler Voices Discontent

Darts stars Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, and Rob Cross will soon receive a dazzling reward for their precision—18-carat golden darts, awarded for their nine-darters in the Premier League. However, despite the glittering prize, Cross admits he’s “pig-sick” of collecting accolades that don’t translate into leaderboard success.

Dubbed the “Three Dartagnans,” the trio secured their £30,000 golden arrows as the first to land perfect legs this season. Humphries and Cross struck gold in Brighton, while Littler nailed his nine-darter against Michael van Gerwen in Cardiff last week.

Yet, Cross, currently ranked fourth in the world, is less interested in flashy prizes and more focused on climbing the league table. Despite his stunning 170 checkout that eliminated Gerwyn Price in Cardiff, he fell short in the semi-finals, losing 6-2 to Littler.

Cross: “I’m Sick of It”

As he prepares for a rematch with Price in Newcastle, Cross is determined to turn performances into points. The former electrician, known as “Voltage,” admitted:

“I haven’t even seen a picture of the golden darts, so I don’t know what they look like—it’ll be a surprise for me like everyone else. But to be honest, I just want to win a Premier League night now. I’m doing all the sexy stuff but not staying consistent enough after that.

“To hit a nine-darter and a big fish 170 but not win on the night is frustrating. I’m pig-sick of it, to be honest. My form has been brilliant lately, but I want something to show for it.

“It’s great to create big moments and send the crowds wild—that’s what the game’s about—but I want to win, I want to move up the table. No one will remember the nine-darter or the 170 if I don’t make Finals Night at the O2.”

Littler’s Take: “Boring” Prize

Littler, leading the Premier League by six points after victories in Glasgow, Brighton, and Cardiff, didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the golden darts. The 18-year-old jokingly dismissed them as “boring” because they weren’t a “proper set.”

Tonight, he faces Stephen Bunting, who has struggled with seven consecutive losses, while Humphries prepares for a high-stakes battle against local favorite Chris Dobey in Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Cross is keeping an eye on Humphries, despite his recent three-match losing streak:

“Luke will be a tough opponent for anyone in Newcastle. Losing three in a row is unlike him, so he’ll be fired up.”

With the competition heating up, Cross and Littler aren’t just chasing golden prizes—they’re after Premier League glory.
