Novak Djokovic and Wife Fined Again Over Marbella Mansion Renovations
Novak Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, have been fined €5,000 (£4,167) by Marbella Council for unauthorized renovations on their luxury mansion in Sierra Blanca. The Serbian tennis star reportedly began construction on the €10 million (£8.3m) property without the necessary permits, violating Andalusian Land Law regarding building height, floor count, and boundary distances.
Authorities have required Djokovic to demolish certain sections, including a basement parking area and a porch. Initially fined for non-compliance, he has now been hit with a second €5,000 fine and faces up to 12 additional penalties if the issues remain unresolved.
Djokovic and his family, who spend a few weeks at the Marbella residence each year, purchased the villa in 2020. The mansion boasts nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an indoor pool, cinema, game room, spa, and gym, with Mediterranean and Moroccan-inspired interiors.
Despite these legal troubles, Djokovic remains focused on the Miami Open, where he is three wins away from a record-breaking seventh title and his 100th career trophy. However, the 24-time Grand Slam champion has struggled in 2025, recently suffering an early exit at Indian Wells and admitting he has been “struggling to play at the desired level.”
