Chris Dobey Praises Luke Littler: “He Deserves All the Credit
Chris Dobey made his return to the Premier League Darts lineup in 2025, kicking off the season with a strong start by reaching the final on opening night in Belfast, where he fell 6-1 to Luke Humphries. Now, as he prepares to play in his hometown of Newcastle on Night Eight, Dobey is hoping for a turnaround in form.
Despite an early bright start, the 34-year-old Englishman has struggled, securing just one win in his last six matches. He faces another tough challenge tonight as he takes on Humphries once again in the quarter-finals.
Dobey Impressed by Luke Littler’s Dominance
Among the many talking points of the season has been the rise of 18-year-old Luke Littler. Dobey, like many others, has been amazed by Littler’s performances, particularly his ability to excel with minimal practice.
“The fact that he doesn’t practice, that impresses everybody,” Dobey told TalkSport. “He just sits there, stays relaxed, and then goes up there and blows you off the board.”
Dobey went on to highlight Littler’s extraordinary confidence on the oche.
“He comes backstage, stays so relaxed, barely practices, and then just dominates. The confidence he has—if he keeps playing like this, he’ll keep winning. I wish I had that confidence at his age. He has no fear and just does what he does. It’s unbelievable.”
Littler’s Impact on the Sport
Littler has already claimed three weekly titles in the 2025 Premier League Darts season, solidifying his reputation as one of the best players on the circuit. While he currently sits at No. 2 in the world rankings behind Luke Humphries, Dobey believes Littler’s talent speaks for itself.
“Just in the short time he’s been on the scene, look at how much he’s brought to the sport. It’s unbelievable, and he deserves all the credit he gets.”
Dobey didn’t hesitate to call Littler the best in the world right now.
“He’s probably the best player on the planet at the minute. He’s been really good. You have to give him credit where it’s due. A lot of these academies and young talents coming through—it’s because of him.”
Littler continues to make headlines, and with performances like these, his rise in the darts world shows no signs of slowing down.
