Novak Djokovic Storms into Miami Open Final, Eyes Historic 100th Title
Novak Djokovic has reached his first final in nearly six months after a commanding victory over Grigor Dimitrov at the Miami Open. The world No. 5 dominated the match, securing a 6-2, 6-3 win in just over an hour.
The Serbian superstar will now compete for his 100th career title, facing either Taylor Fritz or Jakub Mensik in Sunday’s final. With momentum on his side, Djokovic has sent a strong warning to his upcoming opponent, declaring that his form is as sharp as it was during his gold-medal-winning run at the 2024 Olympics.
Djokovic’s Confidence at an All-Time High
After booking his spot in the final, Djokovic spoke to Sky Sports about his recent resurgence:
“It feels great, especially getting through without dropping a set. I didn’t think I could top my first-serve percentage from the last match—83%—but I did, hitting 87% today. Now I know how it feels to be [John] Isner or [Ivo] Karlovic!”
Despite tricky wind conditions, Djokovic remained composed and focused.
“The wind was swirling, making it tough to control the ball, but I’ve felt as good as I have since the Olympics,” he added.
Djokovic’s Serve on Fire
The 37-year-old credited his first serve as the key to his success. Against Dimitrov, he missed only six first serves, following a similarly strong performance against Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinals.
“Without a doubt, my best shot this tournament has been my serve. When you’re serving over 80% in consecutive matches, it makes life a lot easier.”
A Shot at History
Djokovic heads into the final as the overwhelming favorite, boasting a perfect record against both potential opponents—10-0 against Fritz and 1-0 against Mensik. If he wins, he will become just the third man in history to reach 100 ATP titles, joining Jimmy Connors (109 titles) and Roger Federer (103 titles).
As he prepares for Sunday’s showdown, Djokovic’s dominant form suggests he is ready to etch his name even deeper into tennis history.
