Emma Raducanu showed glimpses of her peak form as she reached the quarter-finals of the Miami Open, marking her most successful tournament run since her 2021 US Open triumph. The 22-year-old Brit won four consecutive matches for the first time in nearly three years before falling to world No. 4 Jessica Pegula in a tightly contested battle, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-2.

Despite the loss, Raducanu’s performance was a significant step forward, demonstrating resilience and high-level play. However, a moment of concern arose at the end of the second set when she complained of dizziness, requiring medical attention. She bravely continued, pushing the match into a deciding third set.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova, a winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, praised Raducanu’s grit and determination but expressed lingering concerns about her physical condition.

Navratilova’s Advice: Health and Coaching Stability Key for Raducanu’s Future

Speaking to Sky Sports, Navratilova admired Raducanu’s ability to fight through adversity:

“The way she looked at the end of that second set, you would have thought the match was over. But she found a way to win the tiebreak and still competed in the third, even though she wasn’t feeling well. The humidity can be tough, but this seemed like something more. It’s incredible that she managed to finish the match.”

During a changeover, medical staff checked Raducanu’s vitals and applied ice packs to help her cool down. Afterward, she explained her struggle:

“I just felt really dizzy and faint. It was very humid, and we had a long wait before the match. I think it was a combination of things—long rallies, heavy conditions—but I managed to regroup in the second set. In the third, I definitely struggled.”

While Pegula ultimately proved too strong and has since advanced to the Miami Open final, Raducanu can reflect positively on a strong week at one of the WTA Tour’s biggest events.

Navratilova believes that if Raducanu stays healthy and maintains this level of play, she could secure a seeded spot at Roland Garros and climb back into the WTA’s top 30. However, she also emphasized the importance of coaching stability in Raducanu’s career.

“Hopefully, she can sort out her coaching situation because she’s been in a state of flux. She needs to commit to someone and stick with them for a while. If she plays like she did against Pegula, the sky’s the limit.”

With a promising performance in Miami, Raducanu now looks to build on her momentum and establish herself as a consistent force on the tour once again.
