Emma Raducanu: Tim Henman urges patience but insists ‘results will come’ for Brit after strong run at Miami Open
Tim Henman Backs Emma Raducanu to Deliver Results After Miami Open Run
Tim Henman has urged patience with Emma Raducanu, insisting that “results will come” after her impressive run to the Miami Open quarter-finals. The 22-year-old Brit recorded her best tournament result since winning the 2021 US Open, highlighted by a hard-fought victory over WTA top-10 player Emma Navarro in the second round.
Henman was particularly encouraged by Raducanu’s physical endurance throughout the event and believes she is on the right track to rediscovering her best form.
Raducanu’s Coaching Changes and Miami Performance
Raducanu’s Miami success came amid yet another coaching adjustment. She parted ways with Vladimir Platenik after just one match at Indian Wells before turning to a familiar team—Jane O’Donoghue and Mark Petchey.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Henman praised the positive impact of the new setup.
“I think it worked very well in Miami. Mark Petchey is someone I’ve known for many years, and he’s worked with Emma before. Having a familiar face and voice clearly helped her.”
Despite uncertainties about her long-term coaching arrangement, Henman remains intrigued by Raducanu’s path forward.
Henman Impressed by Raducanu’s Mental Toughness
Raducanu’s Miami Open run included a dramatic 7-6 third-set victory over Emma Navarro, where she saved match points before sealing the win. She then went toe-to-toe with Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals, ultimately falling in a high-quality three-set battle.
Henman was encouraged by Raducanu’s resilience and ability to compete with the best.
“I was pleased to see Emma really competing. Her endurance is improving, and she’s playing against the best in the world. The results will come. Sometimes, you have to be patient and deal with setbacks.”
What’s Next for Raducanu?
Raducanu will now turn her attention to Great Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup qualifier against Germany from April 10-12. She is then set to begin her clay court season at the WTA 250 Open de Rouen, opting to skip Stuttgart in favor of playing in France.
