Luke Littler continues to dominate the world of darts with confidence beyond his years. At just 18, the reigning World Champion has become a household name, capturing headlines with his electric performances and calm demeanor under pressure.
Known as “The Nuke,” Littler defeated Michael van Gerwen in January to claim his first PDC World Darts Championship title, bouncing back from a previous final defeat to Luke Humphries in 2024.
Despite the ever-growing spotlight, Littler takes it all in stride. While many athletes rely on meticulous routines, Littler’s pre-match approach is surprisingly laid-back.
Speaking on the Darts Draait Door podcast, former pro Vincent van der Voort revealed the remarkable calm Littler brings to the practice room.
“Everything he does is under scrutiny, but nothing seems to faze him. He’s casually throwing darts, not even trying – then steps on stage and hits a 112 average. It’s unreal,” Van der Voort said. “Massive respect to the lad.”
That effortless focus has already delivered five major titles, including a recent triumph at the UK Open in March.

Luke Humphries has clapped back at a darts fan who wrote him off after a 6-1 loss to Littler during Night Eight of the Premier League in Newcastle.
Despite being world number one and winning two of the last four majors, one fan boldly claimed Humphries’ prime was “gone.” The comment sparked a heated debate online—and even drew a sharp reply from the man himself.
“I’ve literally won two of the last four majors, you wally! A couple of bad weeks don’t define you,” Humphries responded. “This happened last year too, and look how that turned out.”
Following his victory, Littler admitted both players were running on fumes.
“We were both tired,” he told Sky Sports. “Three matches in one night take a toll. I’m just glad I pulled through.”

Darts legend Colin Lloyd took aim at Gary Neville over a question posed to Luke Littler on the Stick To Football podcast.
Neville asked whether Littler could calculate a checkout from random numbers on the spot. Lloyd wasn’t impressed.
“Of course we bloody know! We’re professionals—it’s our job!” said Lloyd on talkSPORT. “It’s like asking Neville if he can clear a ball off the line. Do your research.”
Littler, unfazed, used the podcast appearance to share an anecdote about Van Gerwen’s mind games before matches, saying:
“He tries to get in my head before we throw for the bull, but I always get it first.”

In a recent appearance on Stick To Football, Littler was asked whether Phil Taylor—arguably the sport’s GOAT—would dominate in today’s era like he once did.
“There’s a record there to break, but it’ll take some doing,” Littler said of Taylor’s 16 world titles. “The game’s changed. The competition’s stronger now. Taylor could struggle today.”
Taylor, who retired in 2018, ruled the game for over two decades. But with modern averages consistently above 100 and deeper competition, Littler believes the current landscape is tougher.
Van der Voort: “Get Rid of Littler’s Fanboys”

Vincent van der Voort has called on the PDC to shake up the Premier League roster—by axing players he labels “Littler fanboys.”
Van der Voort believes some players are too friendly toward Littler during matches, showing him excessive respect instead of bringing real fire to the stage.
“Too many are giving him fist bumps and smiles. I’d rather see someone like Dirk van Duijvenbode—he wouldn’t do that. He plays to win,” Van der Voort said.
Littler, who has already racked up four Premier League wins this season, seems to agree his presence is affecting opponents.
“They’re overthinking. I’m just playing the board—but I think I’ve got into a few heads,” he told Sky Sports.
