Emma Raducanu has continued her rise in the WTA rankings, despite not playing in any tournaments over the past week. The 22-year-old Brit jumped one spot to world No. 47 following her impressive quarter-final run at the Miami Open, which marked her return to the top 50 for the first time in over two years.
Although Raducanu opted to skip Great Britain’s upcoming Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers against Germany and the Netherlands, her position in the rankings remains on an upward trend. She was originally slated to compete in next week’s WTA 250 event in Rouen, but has since withdrawn to focus on a training block, with no confirmed return date.
Meanwhile, American star Jessica Pegula enjoyed a major leap, reclaiming her career-high ranking of world No. 3 after winning the Charleston Open—her eighth career title. Her victory over fellow American Sofia Kenin in the final pushed her ahead of Coco Gauff, who dropped to No. 4.
Pegula is now well-positioned to climb even further in the rankings, as she isn’t defending any points until June, having missed the 2024 clay-court season due to injury.
Other notable ranking movements include:
- Sofia Kenin rising 10 places to No. 34 after reaching the Charleston final.
- Danielle Collins falling from No. 22 to No. 32 after failing to defend her Charleston title.
- Daria Kasatkina, now representing Australia, dropped two places to No. 14.
- British player Sonay Kartal achieved a new career-high of No. 60, while Katie Boulter slipped to No. 40.
Raducanu’s absence from the BJK Cup team sees her replaced by Jodie Burrage, who joins Boulter, Harriet Dart, Kartal, and Olivia Nicholls on the British squad.
As the 2025 season progresses, all eyes will be on Raducanu’s next move—and whether her continued rise in the rankings will translate to more big performances on the court.
