A Manchester United supporter has been arrested and charged with assault after allegedly slapping Manchester City star Jack Grealish following the Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Grealish, 29, entered the match as a substitute in the 74th minute, replacing Ilkay Gundogan, but was unable to influence the outcome, as the heated Manchester derby ended in a 0–0 stalemate.

On Monday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the arrest and charge:

“Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been charged with assault. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court. This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford yesterday.”

The incident follows a tense atmosphere throughout the match, with City midfielder Phil Foden subjected to taunts from United fans involving his mother. City manager Pep Guardiola condemned the chants post-match, saying:

“It’s a lack of class. It’s not United—it’s the people. Involving the mum of Phil… it’s a lack of integrity and they should be ashamed.”

The result leaves Manchester City needing a strong finish to secure Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Manchester United remain in the bottom half of the table but could still qualify for the Champions League if they win the Europa League, with a quarterfinal against Lyon set for Thursday.
