Luke Littler has voiced his support for fellow darts star Luke Humphries, who recently opened up about the physical and emotional toll of the sport’s hectic calendar. Humphries, currently ranked world No.1, made headlines after calling the intense schedule “a chore” and admitting he felt “emotionally drained” during a European Tour event.
Despite reaching the semi-finals in Germany, Humphries revealed he was struggling to stay motivated. “When I’m up on stage, I am just feeling emotionless… I think I need a break,” he confessed, sparking mixed reactions online.
Littler, who chose to skip recent European Tour events to manage his own workload, sympathized with Humphries: “It’s not good to see someone like Luke, the world No.1, admit he’s struggling. I totally agree with him.”
Gerwyn Price has also expressed similar concerns, pointing to the logistical challenges of constant travel and indirect routes to venues. Littler added, “Players are going to places with no direct flights, then catching trains—it takes a toll. That’s why I’ve taken some time off this year.”
After facing criticism on social media for his honesty, Humphries defended himself, stating: “Everything I say or ever do just never seems to be good enough… I guess we’ll all give robotic interviews from now on if that’s what people prefer.”
Both players will return to Premier League action this Thursday in Manchester, as debate continues around the sport’s demanding schedule.
