Emma Raducanu has reportedly received the go-ahead to work with experienced coach and broadcaster Mark Petchey during this summer’s Wimbledon Championships.

Currently serving as a TV commentator for the Tennis Channel, Petchey has reportedly been granted permission by the network to coach the 22-year-old British star during the prestigious Grand Slam event. The 54-year-old was spotted in Raducanu’s player box during the Miami Open, where she delivered her strongest performance of the year, reaching the quarterfinals at a WTA 1000 event for the first time.

Although Petchey is not officially listed as part of Raducanu’s coaching team, his presence and involvement during the Miami tournament suggest a growing partnership that may extend through the summer season.

Raducanu’s coaching situation has been in flux this year. Nick Cavaday stepped away due to health reasons, and Vlado Platenik’s stint lasted only a single match. In contrast, Petchey—who has also worked with Amazon Prime, ITV, and the BBC—may offer the consistency and insight Raducanu needs as she prepares for her home Slam.

Following her Miami run, Raducanu reflected on the positives from the week:

“Despite losing today, I can take some good positives from this week and look forward,” she said.
“I think I just need to take a beat and kind of reevaluate what I’m doing. This week was good, but I need to figure things out and then I’ll make a plan from there.”

With Wimbledon on the horizon, fans will be watching closely to see if Petchey’s guidance can help Raducanu recapture the magic of her 2021 US Open triumph.
