Jimmy Connors’ son claims Carlos Alcaraz no better than Alexander Zverev in exploiting Jannik Sinner’s absence
Brett Connors, son of tennis legend Jimmy Connors, has stirred debate with his recent comments about Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev’s performances during Jannik Sinner’s absence from the tour.
Speaking on his podcast, Brett suggested that while Zverev has received criticism for not stepping up in Sinner’s absence, Alcaraz hasn’t exactly seized the moment either.
“You know, we give Zverev a lot of heat for not taking advantage of Sinner being gone, but Carlos hasn’t exactly been making the most of it either,” Connors said. “Let’s look at what he’s done since Australia.”
He added, “If anyone needs a big win heading into the rest of the clay court season, it’s Carlos.”
Currently, Carlos Alcaraz is set to compete in the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters, while Zverev is preparing for his campaign in Munich. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner is reportedly targeting a return at the upcoming Italian Open.
