Swiatek was targeted by a man who approached her on court, filming himself shouting personal and offensive remarks, including references to her mother and longtime sports psychologist Daria Abramowicz.

While the man’s actions were unsettling, Swiatek clarified, “I wouldn’t call it a threat—it wasn’t that serious. But it was clear he wanted to disrupt my focus.” She added that she tries to concentrate on supportive fans but appreciates that the WTA acted quickly to ensure her safety. “They helped me feel protected,” she said.

Following the incident, Swiatek also began receiving troubling messages online, prompting her team to take further steps. “There were some threats on the internet,” she admitted. “I’m grateful the WTA and my team reacted quickly to keep me safe.”

Swiatek returns to the court this week at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart—her favorite clay-court tournament and one where she’s already lifted the trophy twice. As the second seed, she has a bye into the second round and will face either Donna Vekic or Jana Fett.
