Boris Becker sends message to Carlos Alcaraz as Spaniard reveals truth behind his decision with family after Miami
Carlos Alcaraz recently opened up about his emotional decision to step away from tennis briefly after the Miami Open, revealing the mental toll and reflection that led to his break.
“All sorts of thoughts come: to stop, take a week off, skip a tournament, stop for several months, keep training, take a vacation and then train for what’s next… A lot went through my head,” Alcaraz shared. “One of the best things I did was take a few days off and give myself the chance to think clearly and see things with perspective—and from there, make a decision.”
Following Alcaraz’s revelation, tennis legend Boris Becker offered a heartfelt message of encouragement.
“The support of your family is always more important than anything else! Vamos Carlos!” Becker wrote in response.
This isn’t the first time Becker has praised the young Spaniard. After Alcaraz clinched his second Wimbledon title in 2024, Becker called him an “extraordinary player.”
“Congratulations @carlosalcaraz on your second @Wimbledon victory! You are an extraordinary player with a special gift called tennis 🎾 Celebrate with your loved ones and keep on dreaming ✨,” Becker posted.
Alcaraz’s honesty and composure at such a young age continue to earn him widespread admiration—not just for his tennis skills, but also for his maturity off the court.
