Stuttgart, Germany – Jasmine Paolini appears to be regaining her form at just the right time. Competing in her first tournament since parting ways with long-time coach Renzo Furlan, the Italian rolled into the quarterfinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix with a commanding 6-1, 7-5 win over Germany’s Jule Niemeier.
The fifth seed came out strong, stringing together seven consecutive games to surge ahead 6-1, 2-0. While Niemeier briefly rallied to level the second set, Paolini remained composed. She missed a chance to close out the match at 5-4 but broke again for 6-5, then served out the win confidently.
A Solid Run Without a Coach
Earlier in the week, Paolini also breezed past Eva Lys — one of the breakout players of the Australian Open — with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 scoreline.
Her next opponent will be determined in the match between No. 4 seed Coco Gauff and Germany’s Ella Seidel.
This strong Stuttgart campaign comes amid transition: Paolini recently ended her partnership with Furlan, who had helped guide her to two Grand Slam finals in 2024. Despite their recent struggles in early 2025, the split was amicable.
“Renzo has been such an important part of my growth, both as a player and as a person,” Paolini shared on Instagram. “I’m truly grateful for the time, energy, and sacrifices he made for me—often far from his home and family.”
Although she has yet to appoint a new coach, Paolini’s results suggest she’s moving in the right direction on her own — at least for now.
