A British darts star has spoken out about the moment he was taken to hospital following a sudden and worrying health issue — an ordeal that left him unsure whether he would step back on the oche again.
The player, who has since returned to competition, described the frightening experience in a recent interview, calling it “the scariest moment of my life.”
“I Knew Something Wasn’t Right”
He explained that the symptoms appeared unexpectedly, with discomfort and swelling prompting an urgent trip to the hospital.
“At first I brushed it off,” he said. “But it kept getting worse and I really didn’t feel well. I knew something wasn’t right.”
Doctors quickly identified the seriousness of the situation and moved him into immediate treatment.
“When they explained how severe it was, everything stopped,” he said. “My family was the only thing on my mind.”
Crisis Averted Thanks to Swift Action
Medical staff acted quickly to stabilise him, ensuring he was safe and under close supervision for several days. He praised the team who treated him, calling them “incredible people who looked after me when I needed it most.”
A Careful Return to the Sport
The health scare forced him to take time away from darts, following professional advice to rest and fully recover before returning to high-level competition.
Despite the setback, he says the experience has changed his outlook on both life and the sport.
“I’m grateful to be back. Every match means more to me now.”
Back Competing With Renewed Perspective
Now back on tour, he admits the journey has transformed him.
“I don’t take anything for granted anymore,” he said. “I appreciate the sport more, and I appreciate the people around me more.”
Fans and fellow players have welcomed him back warmly, and he says their support has played a huge role in his return.
