Nathan Aspinall has moved to shut down rumours of a rift with Luke Littler after being pressed on their relationship during an uncomfortable interview at the World Darts Championship.
Speculation about a possible fallout between the pair began circulating on social media in recent weeks, fuelled by claims that tensions had arisen following their competitive clashes on the tour and some light-hearted digs exchanged online.
During a pre-match interview, Aspinall was directly asked whether he and Littler had “fallen out,” prompting an awkward pause before the former UK Open champion made his position clear.
“There’s no fallout. Honestly, there’s nothing there,” Aspinall insisted.
“People read too much into things. Me and Luke are fine.”
Aspinall explained that the 18-year-old world champion’s rapid rise naturally invites scrutiny, but said any suggestion of bad blood between them is simply manufactured drama.
“Luke’s a good lad. We’re competitors, we both want to win, but that’s all it is,” he added.
“Social media takes things and runs with them. There’s no issue between us whatsoever.”
The interview briefly became tense as the presenter pushed again for clarity, asking whether the pair had exchanged words at a recent event. Aspinall laughed off the claim and reiterated that their interactions had been perfectly normal.
“We spoke, same as always,” he said.
“If we’d fallen out, trust me, you’d know about it.”
Fans quickly reacted online, with many saying the exchange felt “uncomfortable” and branding the question “stirring.” Others praised Aspinall for handling it professionally and shutting down the rumours.
With both players still in the hunt at Ally Pally, any talk of behind-the-scenes tension has now been firmly brushed aside — at least as far as Aspinall is concerned.
