Nathan Aspinall Opens Up on Brutal Way He Found Out About Premier League Snub
Nathan Aspinall has spoken candidly about the harsh way he discovered he had been left out of the Premier League Darts line-up, admitting the news was difficult to take.
The former major champion, who has enjoyed strong spells on the PDC circuit, revealed that he did not receive any prior warning or personal communication before the line-up was made public. Instead, Aspinall learned of his omission in the same way as the rest of the darts world — when the official announcement was released.
“It’s not nice finding out like that,” Aspinall admitted. “You put everything into the season, you think you’ve done enough, and then you just see it online.”
“That’s the brutal side of darts”
Aspinall explained that while he understands the commercial and competitive nature of the Premier League, the lack of direct contact made the snub particularly tough to process.
“That’s the brutal side of darts,” he said. “There’s no soft way of saying it. One minute you’re in, the next minute you’re not, and nobody rings you to explain why.”
Despite the disappointment, Aspinall insisted he has no intention of letting the setback derail his season. Instead, he plans to use the frustration as motivation across ranking events and the World Series.
Focus on proving a point
Missing out on the Premier League has historically provided players with added drive, and Aspinall believes the same could apply to him.
“All I can do is get my head down, keep working and prove a point on the board,” he added. “If I play well enough, it takes care of itself.”
With a busy calendar ahead and opportunities to climb the rankings, Aspinall remains determined to respond in the best way possible — with performances rather than words.
While the Premier League snub was painful, the message from Aspinall is clear: the disappointment has only strengthened his resolve to remind everyone exactly what he is capable of.
