Nathan Aspinall Calls Out Three Rivals After Missing Out on Premier League Spot
Nathan Aspinall has not held back after being left out of the Premier League Darts line-up, calling out three rivals he believes were selected ahead of him despite his own strong credentials.
The former major champion admitted the snub hurt, especially after what he feels was a solid season on the PDC circuit. Speaking openly, Aspinall questioned how certain players were chosen ahead of him, making it clear he felt he had done enough to earn his place.
“I look at the line-up and I see three players there who I honestly believe I’ve outperformed,” Aspinall said. “That’s not being disrespectful — that’s just facts.”
“That’s the one that stings”
Aspinall did not name the selection process itself as the problem, acknowledging that the Premier League is part sporting contest, part entertainment product. However, he made it clear that missing out to specific rivals was what made the decision especially difficult to accept.
“That’s the one that stings,” he added. “When you’ve beaten them, gone further than them in big tournaments, and you’re still watching from home — it hurts.”
Turning frustration into motivation
Rather than letting the disappointment linger, Aspinall insists he is using the snub as fuel for the rest of the season. With ranking events, European Tours and World Series tournaments ahead, he is determined to prove a point on the board.
“All I can do now is respond with my darts,” he said. “If I play the way I know I can, these conversations won’t matter next year.”
A familiar story in darts
Premier League omissions have often sparked strong reactions in darts, with several players in the past using the setback to reignite their careers. Aspinall believes the same could apply to him, insisting he still belongs among the elite.
While the frustration is clear, the message from Aspinall is equally strong: the snub has only sharpened his focus — and those three rivals have been firmly put on notice.
