Luke Littler was on the receiving end of some playful trolling from a fellow darts star as he celebrated his 19th birthday.
The two-time world champion marked the milestone on Wednesday, but not before being hit with a cheeky bit of double-tops banter from rival ace Chris Dobey.
Dobey took to Instagram to share a hilarious snap of Littler fast asleep on an aeroplane. The teenage sensation could be seen wrapped in a green blanket, hoodie up, AirPods in and head resting on a pillow — clearly catching up on some well-earned rest.
Captioning the post, Dobey joked: “Happy birthday sweetie,” adding laughing and kissing emojis, while tagging Littler for all to see. The post was shared with Dobey’s 117,000 followers.
While the ribbing came thick and fast from his darts rival, Littler received a much more heartfelt message from his girlfriend, Faith Millar.
Posting a selfie of the pair, Millar wrote: “Happy birthday my love. I love you always.”
The couple are currently enjoying a three-night break in Dubai alongside Littler’s family, soaking up the sun after his latest triumph on the oche.
The Warrington star lifted the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters trophy on Tuesday night, defeating Michael van Gerwen 8-5 in the final to bank £30,000 just hours before his birthday. From Riyadh, the Littler family jetted straight to Dubai for a luxury getaway featuring ocean views and a rooftop pool.
Littler has also spoken about how he plans to handle the £1million prize money he earned from his World Championship victory at Alexandra Palace.
Asked whether he would upgrade his recently purchased £39,000 BMW, Littler insisted he has no plans to splash the cash.
“I’m not that type of guy,” he said. “Growing up, my family and I haven’t had this sort of money. Now I can give back to my mum and dad, let them travel with me.
“But I’m not going to waste it. I’ll just invest.”
The teenager has already shown he knows how to stay one step ahead of the spotlight, having famously outwitted paparazzi on his 18th birthday last year. Photographers snapped his dad Anthony heading to the chippy, unaware Luke had slipped out to go bowling with his mates.
Littler’s celebrations will soon be over, with competitive action resuming next week when he returns to Milton Keynes for the World Masters.
