Premier League Darts star’s ban as he refuses to change walk-on song in risky move
Josh Rock has vowed he will not ditch his Rangers-themed walk-on song in Glasgow — even if it sparks a hostile reaction from Celtic supporters.
The Northern Irish star is still searching for his first win of this season’s Premier League Darts after quarter-final exits on Nights 1 and 2. He returns for Night 3 in Glasgow, where he faces former world champion Luke Humphries in the opening round.
A passionate Rangers fan, Rock walks on to Welcome to the Party by DJ Krissy — a track closely linked with Rangers’ 2020/21 Scottish Premiership title celebrations.
With plenty of Celtic followers expected inside the OVO Hydro, the choice could create a tense atmosphere. But Rock insists he has no intention of changing his routine.
He joked that many Celtic fans may be busy watching their side in the UEFA Europa League and added he is sticking with the song because his children love it.
With no Scottish players in this year’s Premier League line-up, Rock was also asked whether his Rangers connection could make him something of a home favourite. He said he would love strong local support but admitted he has no idea what kind of reception to expect.
The situation follows last year’s World Matchplay, when Rock revealed he wanted to change his walk-on music but was prevented from doing so by the Professional Darts Corporation.
On the oche, results have been tough so far. Rock has won just four legs in his debut Premier League campaign, losing 6-2 to Jonny Clayton in Newcastle before suffering the same scoreline against Michael van Gerwen in Antwerp.
He also faces a difficult challenge against Humphries, who has beaten him in their last three meetings. Still, Rock can take confidence from a run of three straight wins he previously enjoyed over “Cool Hand Luke” between 2022 and 2024 — and he’ll hope Glasgow is where his Premier League campaign finally gets going.
