Pete Graves has shared an emotional message about hosting ITV’s darts coverage, admitting he knows he won’t be “everyone’s cup of tea” but insisting he is loving the role.

The broadcaster was leading the coverage for only his second tournament in the hot seat during the recent UK Open.

It turned into a memorable event as Luke Littler ended a decade-long run by successfully defending the title. The teenage sensation defeated James Wade 11–7 in a repeat of the previous year’s final to claim the £120,000 top prize.

Following the tournament, Graves took to social media to reflect on his experience fronting the coverage, which was part of the second major event produced by the new Matchroom team.

He said it had been an enjoyable start to his presenting duties and thanked fans for their feedback, both positive and critical. Graves acknowledged that presenting is subjective and not everyone will enjoy the same style, but stressed he is determined to keep improving and give the job everything he has.

In another post, he shared behind-the-scenes photos from the event and praised the atmosphere, describing the tournament as packed with drama, a brilliant crowd and world-class players. He also thanked viewers who tuned in on ITV Sport and through the Professional Darts Corporation’s streaming service around the world.

Fans quickly responded with messages of support. Several viewers praised his relaxed presenting style and encouraged him to continue despite criticism, noting that audiences often take time to adjust to new faces on coverage.

One supporter even compared him to legendary Sky Sports darts presenter Dave Clark — a broadcaster Graves openly admires.

Responding to the comparison, Graves spoke warmly about Clark, calling him a great figure in the sport and admitting he hopes one day to reach even half of the veteran presenter’s level.
