Millionaire Luke Littler tipped to turn pro in completely different career ‘in four or five years’ by darts legend

Steve Beaton believes it wouldn’t be a shock if Luke Littler one day walked away from darts to pursue a career in professional gaming.

Littler, still just 19, has already earned millions both on and off the oche since turning professional in January 2024. And if he goes on to win the PDC World Cup of Darts and the European Darts Championship later this year in Germany, he would complete an incredible clean sweep of every major PDC title.

His rise has been nothing short of remarkable, with records continuing to fall despite his young age. But former Lakeside world champion Beaton can still imagine a future where Littler swaps arrows for a controller, given his love of playing FIFA on his Xbox.

Beaton, nicknamed “The Bronzed Adonis,” praised Littler’s natural talent and consistency, highlighting his ability to find different ways to finish legs and maintain high standards even when things aren’t perfect.

However, he also questioned how long the teenager will stay motivated, suggesting that after four or five years, Littler might decide to explore other passions — including gaming — especially if opportunities arise outside of darts.

Littler is next set to face Stephen Bunting in the Premier League Darts in Brighton, with a potential semi-final clash against Gian van Veen looming following their recent heated exchange in Manchester.

Beaton, who has spent decades on the circuit, believes Littler’s emergence is inspiring a whole new generation of players. He says the sport is booming, with more young talents picking up darts and academies opening everywhere.

According to Beaton, today’s youngsters are already capable of producing nine- and 12-dart finishes regularly — but the real test is handling pressure the way Littler has done so impressively.

He also noted that while crowd reactions can sometimes get under Littler’s skin, learning to deal with it is part of the game — joking that even tactics like wearing earphones, once used by Gerwyn Price, are no longer an option.

Beaton will next appear on Pluto TV from April 20–25, teaming up with Fallon Sherrock during the MODUS Super Series International Pairs Week. Representing England, the pair will compete in a 12-nation, 24-player event alongside notable names such as John O’Shea, Richie Burnett, and David Munyua.

Beaton and Sherrock previously met at PDC World Darts Championship 2022 at Ally Pally, where Beaton edged a tense 3-2 victory. Reflecting on that match, he admitted it was a tough battle, recalling how both players were averaging around 100 and pushing each other all the way.

Now, he’s looking forward to teaming up with Sherrock — and believes she has the ability to rattle plenty of opponents, as the rise of top female players continues to shake up the sport.
