Michael van Gerwen showed off a more relaxed and playful side in a light-hearted PDC sponsor video. Sitting in a restaurant-style setting, the Dutch star had fans smiling with his quick wit and humorous answers — including a cheeky dig at Jonny Clayton.
In the clip, filmed with a hospitality partner, Van Gerwen was tasked with hitting doubles in between questions from interviewer Becky James. When asked who he’d most like to cook for, he didn’t hesitate: Clayton.
“Jonny Clayton,” he said instantly. And when pressed on what he’d make, he delivered a classic Van Gerwen punchline: “Let me make the Indian. It will be so spicy, he’ll never get off the toilet.”
The three-time world champion kept things fun throughout. He even admitted he wouldn’t mind attending a darts event dressed in a pineapple costume. “I quite like the sound of that,” he laughed, agreeing he’d probably pull it off.
When the topic shifted to music, he initially brushed it off with a sarcastic “No, nothing… blah blah blah,” before eventually naming a few artists, including Martin Garrix.
On the competitive side, Van Gerwen was in strong form last Thursday during Night 10 of the Premier League Darts in Brighton. He powered into the final and looked set for victory after building a 5–2 lead against Clayton. But the match slipped away — four missed match darts opened the door for Clayton, who staged a comeback to steal the win.
Still, Van Gerwen bounced back impressively the following night at an exhibition in Purfleet. Now, he’ll be aiming to build momentum and add more points when the Premier League heads to his home crowd in Rotterdam for Night 11.
