Luke Littler has warned “grandfather” Jonny Clayton to watch his back in the Premier League Darts, declaring: “I’m chasing you down.”
The Nuke, 19, topped the eight-man Premier League table in both 2024 and 2025 before heading into the playoffs at London’s O2 Arena.
With four weeks of the regular season remaining — starting with Aberdeen on Thursday, followed by stops in Leeds, Birmingham and Sheffield — Clayton currently leads the standings with 32 points.
Littler is just three points behind after his victory in Liverpool last week, and could move into top spot if he claims another win in Scotland while Clayton exits at the quarter-final stage.
The Welshman, who shares four nightly wins in the Premier League Darts with the reigning world champion, is well aware that he is being chased.
And the 51-year-old “Ferret” — who jokingly refers to himself as a “grandfather” on the oche despite having young children — may need to keep a close eye behind him.
The two rivals are set to clash again, with a quarter-final meeting in Birmingham on May 14 already guaranteed.
A confident Littler said: “I’m going to be chasing him now.
“I don’t really want to be. I want to be at the top, cruising. I want to be at No.1, so I’m going to go chasing.
“There’s still four weeks to play for. And yeah, I’m going to chase him.
“I want to finish first. That’s my main goal. If my game’s there, then obviously I can jump above Jonny.
“I don’t know how many times we can meet in the first round with the rest of the season to go.
“Obviously I’m going to have to beat him in the semi-finals or even finals.
“These nightly wins are crucial to get to the O2. I can say I’m there, but I want top spot first.
“If people start getting the better of you, then going into the next game, you’re obviously in their head or whatever.”
