Cameron Menzies slapped with suspended ban and fine for punching table in World Darts Championship meltdown

CAMERON MENZIES has been hit with a £2,500 fine and handed a suspended four-month ban after punching a table multiple times during the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.

The Scottish star, 37, injured his hand in frustration after suffering a dramatic 3-2 first-round defeat to bricklayer Charlie Manby in December.

The outburst, which quickly went viral, left Menzies with a badly cut hand as blood poured from his knuckles, forcing him to make an emergency trip to hospital.

The punishment was confirmed after the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) released its full disciplinary report covering the period from 2023 to 2026—the first such publication in three years.

Following a disciplinary hearing on January 19, Menzies was fined £2,500 and given a four-month suspension, although the ban has been suspended until July 23, 2027.

That means the former plumber will remain free to compete unless he commits another breach of the DRA’s regulations over the next year, which could see the suspension activated.

Despite the costly incident, Menzies has bounced back impressively in 2026. He has climbed to 26th in the PDC world rankings and played a key role in Scotland’s run to the semi-finals of the World Cup of Darts.

Ironically, Menzies earned £15,000 in prize money despite his first-round exit at Alexandra Palace.

Anderson, Price and Cross also sanctioned

The DRA report also revealed several other high-profile disciplinary cases involving leading stars.

Two-time world champion Gary Anderson received a £3,000 fine after being found guilty of “aggressive and abusive behaviour” during the 2025 World Matchplay in Blackpool. However, £1,000 of that fine has been suspended until September 2026.

Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld escaped with a formal warning after failing to report damage caused to a hotel room during a Players Championship event in Germany in May 2025.

Former world champion Rob Cross was fined £500 and formally warned after making an offensive gesture during the 2024-25 PDC World Championship, an incident that was broadcast live on television.

The DRA also confirmed that offences such as recklessly throwing darts, failing to mark correctly and using offensive language can attract fines ranging from £100 to £500.

Among the more severe penalties was a £1,000 fine handed to Gerwyn Price after he failed to complete a Pro Tour match and later made inappropriate comments on social media following the event on February 12, 2024.

Elsewhere, amateur player John Morris received a six-month suspension, suspended until September 2026, after being found in possession of a Class A drug at an ADC Vault event in March.
